31: Coping With “Difference”: Neurodiversity-Affirming Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy for Autistic and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Clients With Eating Disorders
This chapter identifies how to work with neurodiverse clients with eating disorders (EDs) through a neurodiverse-affirming framework within an Adaptive Information Processing (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) model.
It seeks to understand the overlap between EDs and neurodiverse diagnoses (such as autism spectrum disorder and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and how traditional ED treatments may have to be modified to take into account the differences of neurodivergent brains.
