Abstract

This chapter identifies how to work with neurodiverse clients with eating disorders (EDs) through a neurodiverse-affirming framework within an Adaptive Information Processing (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) model.

It seeks to understand the overlap between EDs and neurodiverse diagnoses (such as autism spectrum disorder and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and how traditional ED treatments may have to be modified to take into account the differences of neurodivergent brains.
