Abstract
This chapter highlights systemic challenges, oppression, and marginalization of transgender and gender-diverse people, as well as sources of resilience and strength. Key terminologies that counselor trainees should be familiar with are included in this chapter. Developmental considerations are explored using a relational-cultural humility framework, concrete counseling interventions, and steps for building advocacy for and with transgender and gender-diverse clients.
