Abstract

This chapter describes how a personal journey of embracing Caritas Literacy fostered metamorphosis in a registered nurse-to-bachelor of science in nursing curriculum with Caring Science as its theoretical foundation. This personal journey of transformation serves as a road map for others wishing to acquire the necessary attitudes, skills, and knowledge necessary to embark on their own journey of transformation for the future of nursing. The chapter discusses how the language of caring, compassion, and connection is foundational in creating a Caring Science pedagogy. It describes strategies of connection in fostering Caritas Literacy within this population and the use of the affective domain as the entry point for engaging an emancipatory approach to the ways of being/knowing/becoming. The chapter explores the value of an emancipatory approach to Caring Science education in developing Caritas Literacy through the dialect.
