Urban communities face unique challenges related to mental health, exacerbated by health disparities, trauma, and systemic racism. This special issue seeks to explore these critical issues and advance understanding, intervention, and policy in urban mental health.

We welcome original research articles, theoretical papers, case studies, and practice-based reflections that address the following topics:

  • Health disparities and mental health in urban communities
  • Trauma-informed approaches to mental health care in urban settings
  • Intersectionality of race, ethnicity, and mental health in urban communities

  • Culturally responsive practices in urban mental health services
  • Evidence-based interventions and innovative strategies for promoting mental wellness and resilience in urban populations
  • Policies and advocacy efforts to reduce mental health disparities and promote access, cost, and equity in urban areas

Submissions should clearly articulate the relevance to mental health in urban communities and contribute to advancing knowledge and practice in this area.

Manuscripts should be submitted online through the Urban Social Work submission portal, http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/usw.
