Abstract

Do not allow making assessments intimidating. Think about wound assessment in terms of the analogy that just because you’ve seen one human face doesn’t mean that you’ve seen them all, or that you will ever see them all. However, as Vince Lombardi said, “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” Continually assessing wounds will improve your skills and make you more effective in developing your treatment plans. Take time with your assessments and really scrutinize what you are seeing.
