Abstract

As more nurses are prepared with expanded expertise through graduate levels of education and analytics, the impact of nursing practice and outcomes are being disseminated in clinical, administrative, and education settings. Nurses who conduct scientific investigations have a professional obligation to share their findings, thus providing the foundation for the profession’s growth and maturation. This chapter focuses on dissemination through publications, it is important for nurses to consider the many opportunities to share their findings with those inside and outside of the profession. Too often it is observed that the public does not always understand what nurses do and how they impact healthcare. Efforts in demonstrating the work of nurses via publication can change practice, encourage peers, and help demonstrate to the public the importance of nursing in the promotion of optimal health and well-being.
