Abstract

Faculty development is continuous because of all the changes, new processes, and ways of looking at nursing program content and processes. Faculty development continues with each new activity to further develop programs and make revisions as needed. In this chapter, the reader will learn the purposes of faculty development related to curriculum development and revision. The reader will also learn to prepare for resistance to change and new approaches and strategies to facilitate faculty development. Faculty development generally focuses on two areas: personal and professional growth related to their own goals and work-related expectations. The main focus of faculty development is professional development for program development and revision. Skills for program development and revision include critical thinking and organizational ability. Nursing faculty are responsible for program development and revision to meet accreditation standards and to keep content current. The chapter presents an example of a faculty development.
