Creativity must represent something different, new, or innovative. It has to be different and also be appropriate to the task at hand. The first chapter of the book deals with the Four-Criterion Construct of Creativity, which attempts to integrate both Western and Eastern conceptions of creativity. This is followed by a chapter which addresses how creativity operates on individual and social/environmental levels, and the effects and outcomes of the creative mind. Chapter 3 discusses the structure of creativity. A key work on creative domains is that of Carson, Peterson, and Higgins, who devised the creativity achievement questionnaire (CAQ) to assess 10 domains. The book examines the many definitions of “genius”, and the multiple domains in which it appears, including art, science, music, business, literature, and the media. The term genius is peculiar. It can be precisely defined or loosely defined. It can be applied to a diversity of phenomena or confined to just one or two. It all depends on how you use the term. The tremendous range in usage reflects the fact that genius is both a humanistic concept with a long history and a scientific concept with a much shorter history. There are two principal ways to assess degrees of genius. One is historiometric, and the other is psychometric. Whatever the actual association between historiometric and psychometric genius, we have a strong inclination to associate the two concepts. This connection was demonstrated in a recent survey of college students at both U.S. and Canadian universities. The book also examines three alternative positions on the nature of cognitive ability: unified intellect, diverse intellects and hierarchical intellect. This book is a guide to understanding core restorative justice values and practices and what we have learned from research on the impact of this emerging social movement in the global community. The first three chapters provide an overview of the restorative justice movement and its connection with core social work values and spirituality (not religion). Restorative justice dialogue and its most widespread applications are then presented in Chapters four through eight. Each chapter on a specific application of restorative justice dialogue includes a thorough description of the process, including case examples, followed by a review of empirical research that is available. The author of this book has effectively filled many roles in her career: psychiatric nurse, educator, dean, policy maker, president, chair, author, leader, mentor and, as the author would proudly note, gadfly. One of the chapters in Part III describes a variety of school-based and residential treatment programs aimed at adolescent children of substance-abusing parents, youngsters who are often at great risk to become the next generation of substance-abusing parents. Another discusses the treatment programs for the large, often overlooked, population of college students with substance-abusing parents. This book provides a conceptual and historical description of Emotional Intelligence (EI) as a concept and its application to nursing practice. This book provides a tool kit for helping professions responding to vulnerable populations and preparing populations prior to a disaster. Some populations are more vulnerable to the effects of a disaster than others, making it more difficult for them to prepare, evacuate, shelter, respond, and recover in the event of a disaster or emergency. Considering the needs of these groups requires special knowledge essential to preparedness, response, and recovery planning. In circumstances where there is mass evacuation, such as during Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, there is always frequent media coverage of large-scale evacuations, including evacuation of medical facilities and nursing homes. Those with chronic medical conditions and older adults are two of the many categories worthy of consideration. Vulnerable populations also include pregnant women, prisoners, the homeless, those with functional mental health issues or addiction issues, those with transportation issues, persons in poverty, minorities, persons who are obese, and those who have special supervision needs. Socioeconomic status (SES) has recently been recognized as a significant vulnerability factor. Evacuation can also be an issue for those of a lower SES due to limited financial resources. Dealing with persons with substance abuse and dependency is one of the most neglected areas in the literature involving empirical evidence and guidelines for appropriate response in a disaster. Developing appropriate guidelines and interventions presents a thorny set of problems for both addicted individuals and emergency responders. A final consideration is the role of pets in disaster recovery. Those who engage in disaster preparedness and response with vulnerable populations should be aware of the characteristics that make those populations vulnerable and make special considerations during planning, response, and recovery. The book highlights some of those characteristics, providing responders with necessary guidelines to assess and intervene with those who are especially vulnerable.

The use of high frequency ultrasound as an imaging modality for the musculoskeletal system has expanded dramatically in the past decade. Despite its growth, standardized training for use of this modality is not yet available in the majority of residency training programs. Diagnostic and interventional sonography has become an important clinical tool for physicians treating musculoskeletal conditions. In medical school, human brain anatomy is first taught through dissection labs and lectures. The book presents the color enhanced medical illustrations and virtually all of the cutting edge imaging modalities currently used to visualize the human brain. This includes standard computed tomography (CT), including multiplanar reformatted CT images and 3D volume rendered CT imaging, standard magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images, diffusion tensor MR imaging (DTI), MR spectroscopy (MRS), functional MRI (fMRI), vascular imaging using magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), CT angiography (CTA), conventional 2D catheter angiography, 3D rotational catheter angiography, and ultrasound of the neonatal brain. The book considers cadaver dissections with the brain removed from the cranial vault with preservation of the cisternal segments of the CN and their relationships to the dural surfaces and skull base foramina. The original cross-sectional images from the MRI were loaded into the scene as background references to ensure accuracy at every step. The cortical surface model was adjusted and refined, the skull model was modified to fit the MRI derived brain, and models of the midbrain and cerebellum were painstakingly handsculpted. The cranial nerve illustrations were derived from the hand-sculpted models using Boolean operators to segment the midbrain into slices at multiple levels. The cranial nerve nuclei were then modeled and placed into their appropriate locations after comparison with microscopic atlases. This book is intended for physiatrists, sports physicians, orthopedists, rheumatologists, and primary care physicians. Although there are comprehensive textbooks and abundant literature reviews devoted to musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine, gaps still exist regarding optimal outpatient management for many MSK disorders due to the relative paucity of information on the clinical decision-making process and differential diagnosis and treatment in the practice setting. The book tries to address these gaps by using a uniform approach to the diagnosis of MSK disorders in different anatomic locations and emphasizing the nonoperative management options applicable to the outpatient clinic. It provides a patho-anatomic approach based on the location of pain. This approach can be efficient and intuitive with sound knowledge of MSK anatomy, particularly in the peripheral MSK systems such as the hand and the foot. The book describes concise physical examinations for each anatomic region and the reader is encouraged to cultivate essential physical examination skills using other available resources and visual demonstration. Ultrasonography (US) has been increasingly available in the outpatient MSK clinic and has proven to be an important tool both in diagnosis and treatment.
